Sal and Sean are saying good-bye although I think Sally is really wanting to get back to her bone.

Yea! We finally pulled out. Fran you were not too far from wrong about Rutland. Our lunch stop was Dion Rd. off Highway 33 on the way to Big White. After lunch, we were lucky enough to follow a logging truck all the way to Rock Creek.

Our destination tonight is in the Kootenays and we are looking for Sasquatch. Guess what city we are staying nearby, by studying the picture on the left. Send your guesses to us and the first one who has the correct answer wins the picture. You can take your pick, Sean and Sally or the nice brick houses. Patti, I do not think you are allowed in this contest.

Before dinner we took a walk. There is a Pope-Talbot mill here and trucks bring in wood shavings. The truck backs up to a metal container which grabs onto the trucks trailer which is detached from the truck. This big clamp then lifts the trailer up into the air to dump the wood chips. If only it were that easy to clean my room!

Two pairs of deer crossed our paths on our walk. Each pair was a doe and a bambi. The most exciting wildlife discovery was a 30" snake that slithered across our path as we walked home.
We scared the living daylights out of that snake!!!!

We had a bit of rain but who cares in this caravan.

Cheers

Keep your fingers crossed. We leave tomorrow. That would be August 30. Oh yes, that is 2006.

Highway 33 is the route south to Rock Creek and then east for a few days until we hit Kenora where one of Marg's cousins lives and has a cabin on Lake of the Woods.

Sounds easy doesn't. Rock Creek, BC then Kenora, ON.

Stay tuned as there may be some curves in the road between those two cities.

Now here is a little quiz for you. Which animal will Terry and Marg not see while crossing Canada? Maybe this should be a contest and the prize will be picked up along the way. The winner is the person with the correct answer and the most interesting reason why.

That's all fellow bloggers or bloggerears.

More saw dust but not finished the installation. A few more screws to be screwed! Kelowna had another great day today, but the smoke from the fires below the 49th are lessening but still here.

Sean has arrived and is getting the lay of the land--information overload. He has only been here one day and already my dear dog Sally is giving him the ball to be kicked. Sean is a UVIC student who will do his year at OKM--just down the road.

This is about it. I am tired from climbing up onto the cabover bed area and of course down again and up again, and down again, and up again, and down.

Felix saw Sally's picture and meowed until I agreed to make him famous, too.

Snow is not all bad on a hot summer's day! Okay, okay, Sally I am putting in a new picture of my helpful dog, and then can I get off the roof of your dog house.

More installations in the rolling home. Should be done by end of tomorrow. The next job is to fill the joint up. I am a bit slow with the satellite radio instal. If this was Gone With the Wind Radio I could say, "Tomorrow is another day."

Sean, the pet and house sitter has arrived, and so we plan to leave on Tuesday. We should have all the stuff jammed in by Monday after we make our last trip to Costco. I wonder if Saskatchewan has Costco? Cabos San Lucas does. Of course it has snorkelling and Saskatchewan doesn't.

We have avoided a crisis. Marg found a container for clothes soap. Imagine two months and not being able to wash clothes. Oh, go on; try to imagine that.

Still getting ready. My dog Sally helped today, and she often reminded me: measure twice; cut once. Sal is out in the back yard either barking at the bear moving up the creek or she thinks that is what she is barking at. Her nose is much better than mine so the former is probably true. I've seen the scats--pin cherries. I will eat raspberry jam again, but not for a time.

We might go through Vernon and then to Lumby etc. Certainly we will have to decide by next week as that's when we depart. We could go via Rock Creek but I really do not like the road from Kelowna (the big K) to Rock Creek. There are too many trees to count.

Tomorrow is satellite radio day! Install storage in the cab-over area that was a queen bed.

A Kelowna winter and Sal just loves the snow--just another form of water.

Getting Ready

The challenge of the motorhome is to create friendly storage. These units have to be light and often sized for particular items--pocketbooks, magazines, computer hardware. Do you have any ideas for storage? Send them along.

I am using a tool bag because the construction is soft and it can fit into many places. I have lots of duct tape. Putting in my trusty rechargeable drill and a set of bits. So what else do I need to slip into the motorhome.

The garage sale is finished and I'll be chasing the yellow lines across Canada in 10 short days. Kelowna, BC is my home near Okanagan Lake and Ogopogo. The gps and satellite radio are soon to be installed so the journey to find the Atlantic Ocean and Glooscap will be a success.

Let me hear about your fav stops from west to east and I might drop in and say hello.

Back to prepping for the adventure and modifying the motorhome--what a wild ride.

Catch you later.

Cheers
